We run a variety of services helping us to give everyone

the chance to be part of the community they live in and to feel connected to society.

People need other people – being able to rely on others when appropriate . Don’t let inappropriate ‘independence’ or rigid views about seeking help get in the way of you finding support.

Our aim is to promote social inclusion by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. Our initiative is to tackle the causes of social exclusion, because social exclusion is about more than income poverty. It is a shorthand term for what can happen when people or areas face a combination of linked problems such as unemployment, discrimination, poor skills, low incomes, poor housing, high crime, bad health and family breakdown. These problems are linked and mutually reinforcing so that they can create a vicious cycle in people’s lives.

This project aims to improve the well-being and life chances of people living in the Medway Area. Many of these people suffer with low self-esteem, poor health, and social isolation. The project will support members of the community to develop, deliver and sustain their own activities, to improve their skills and confidence and address local social, health and economic inequalities. This project will provide activities at our own local community centre in Medway including social events, advice and community fun days and include sports and dance sessions, performing and poetry reading club, art and crafts, healthy cooking workshops, gardening . It will also engage with local colleges to become involved in outreach to reduce isolation and improve health and social well-being for local residents. The centre will provide supported volunteering opportunities for people to improve their skills, knowledge and experience to be able work together to make positive changes in the society.
